If diet and anti-depressants do not seem to work with your condition, then why not take it naturally (or “herbally” as nutritionists call it). Numerous herbal remedies are now in the market which claims to treat depression. However, not all of these natura herbs have been proven to be effective.
- The herb called Passion Flower has anti-anxiety effects thanks to the flavonoid called chrysin.
- The Eleutherococcus senticosus also known as the Siberian Ginseng can help relieve stress. It also aids in improving mental alertness as well.
- Ginger and Basil can also help in alleviating fatigue and stress. It can also treat anxiety and even sleeping disorders at the same time.
See to it that you don’t combine anti-depressant medications with these herbal remedies. This may alter the effects or would only make your depression worse.

When I was off from work with depression last year, I started to exercise a lot more and also starting to think more positively.
My GP also advised that if I was ever going to beat my depression that I needed to cut down on the amount of caffeine I was taking in every day. I decided to replace my teas and coffees with ginger tea which probably sounds pretty disgusting but is actually quite nice! Some people add sugar to “sweeten the deal” but I leave it as it is.
